Abir is an associate lawyer in Koskie Minsky’s Pension and Benefits Department and a member of their Bankruptcy and Restructuring Group. While summering and articling at the firm, Abir assisted employees and retirees who were impacted by the insolvency proceedings of their former employer. She continues to focus on employee and retiree-related matters in bankruptcy and insolvency law.
Abir is a graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School, where she was a caseworker for the Social Assistance, Violence and Health Division of Parkdale Community Legal Services. As a caseworker, Abir honed her advocacy skills while representing individuals facing income insecurity before the Social Benefits Tribunal and the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board. While at law school, Abir also served as a senior editor for the Journal of Law and Social Policy and a research assistant for the Canadian Observatory on Homelessness.
Abir also holds an M.A. in Developmental Psychology and Education from the University of Toronto, and a H.B.Sc. in Life Sciences from McMaster University. Prior to law school, she researched language and literacy development among vulnerable populations.
