Koskie Minsky Supports First Nations Nutrition Program
April 5, 2017
Gail Black and Michelle Vinokoruv of Canadian Feed the Children (CFTC) were warmly welcomed at Koskie Minsky’s offices on Wednesday, April 5, when they presented lawyers and staff with a heartwarming and inspirational report on how the Firm’s recent donation to the agency’s First Nations Nutrition Program is helping to bring food security to school children in aboriginal communities across Canada.
The CFTC First Nations Nutrition Program funds school breakfast, lunch and snack programs, as well as community gardens and food boxes, that ensure children in northern communities who are living under the poverty line have access to healthy, nutritious meals during the school day and at home. In the past year, CFTC has supplied more than 250,000 meals and also delivered nutrition educational programs to parents, teachers and Elders with the aim of creating long-lasting improvements.
The attendees were especially delighted to receive a personalized video message from students at Kikendaasogamig Elementary School in Neyaashiinigmiing (Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation) who are benefitting directly from the Firm’s contribution, and they recorded a video greeting to send back with Gail and Michelle in return.
