Koskie Minsky Acts for Canadian Auto Workers in Settlement with General Motors of Canada Limited

The Ontario Superior Court approved a settlement today between the CAW, GMCL and retirees that provides for the participation of retirees in the auto sector retiree health care trust, the first “Employee Life and Health Trust” established in Canada. KM lawyers Murray Gold, Jonathan Ptak, Roberto Tomassini, and Simon Archer acted for the CAW in the class proceeding, negotiation of the settlement and the establishment of the asrTrust. The terms of the settlement provide that GMCL will contribute over $2billion to the trust and provide health care benefits to retirees of GMCL formerly represented by the CAW.
