Harmonized Sales Tax

On July 1, 2010, the 8% Ontario Retail Sales Tax (RST) will be eliminated and the new 13% Ontario Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) will come into effect. Essentially, the HST will combine the RST (8%) and the GST (5%) while for the most part, following the rules of the GST. Compliance and collection of the HST will be administered by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). For more information please click here.
