Manitoba Solitary Confinement Class Action – May 9, 2024

A two-stage trial has been scheduled for November 17-28, 2025 and March 16-27, 2026. The Court will be deciding the common issues applicable to all Class Members in the class action covering the period ending on May 4, 2022.

A second case was commenced on May 2, 2024. The second case covers the same groups of people as are covered by the first class action, except that the time period runs from May 4, 2022 to the present. The second case protects the limitation periods of people placed into solitary confinement after May 4, 2022.
