Dylex Ltd., October 15, 2020
October 15, 2020
Further to our letter of September 24, 2020, we have received inquiries from former Dylex employees with claims under $1,500 who are having difficulty accessing their unclaimed dividend payment from the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy’s (“OSB”) Unclaimed Dividends Database.
As stated in our letter, employees who have claims of less than $1,500 had their payments sent by the trustee in bankruptcy to the OSB’s Unclaimed Dividends Database, due to the administrative costs of producing cheques for small amounts. Those employees can retrieve their dividend payment by going to the OSB’s website at: https://www.ic.gc.ca/app/scr/osb-bsf/ufd/search.html?lang=eng and following the instructions.
We have recently been informed that many affected employees with claims under $1,500 have been unable to access their payments on the database. As such, we have inquired with the trustee and the OSB and are told that the unclaimed dividend payments will become available on the database approximately one month after the closing date for the Dylex estate, which was October 5, 2020. Note that they also told us there may also be additional delays resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
If you are currently unable to access your payment from the database, please check the database again after November 5, 2020. If you are still having difficulty, please contact us at dylexrepcounsel@kmlaw.ca or 1-833-630-1790 and we will assist you.
