Koskie Minsky LLP has commenced a class proceeding against Marriott International, Inc. and Luxury Hotels International of Canada, ULC.
On March 31, 2020, Marriott announced that hackers had improperly accessed “an unexpected amount of guest information” using the login credentials of two employees at a franchise property. The data breach involves the personal information of up to 5.2 million guests.
The claim alleges that the Defendants failed to adequately protect customers’ personal information, and chose to wait one month after discovering the breach to notify their customers.
The claim is brought on behalf of all persons resident in Canada whose personal information was improperly accessed as a result of the data breach.
