Multi-Employer Pension and Benefit Plans
Koskie Minsky’s Multi Employer Pension and Employee Benefit Plan Group plays a leading role in the advancement of the interests of private sector MEPs, their trustees and their members across Canada.
Our Group practitioners advise boards of trustees and plan sponsors involved in the administration of private sector MEPs, including pension, group health and dental, life, accidental death and dismemberment, disability funds, training funds, and industry stabilization funds to name but a few.
Our experience includes advising on the governance, administration, and statutory compliance of MEPs of all sizes. We appear before courts and administrative tribunals, as well as federal and provincial regulators throughout Canada. Our practitioners deal with all legal aspects of regulatory compliance, including requirements of the Income Tax Act.
Group practitioners regularly interact with federal and provincial governments to express the interests of MEPs in the development of legislation, regulations and policies. Our advisory role to various government agencies positions us well to advise clients on new legal developments in income tax, trusts, and general employee benefits. Our cumulative expertise supports our role as the main editors and contributors to Employee Benefits in Canada (Fourth Edition).
